About Hair Restoration

We use microneedling or a small needle to infuse the scalp with bio-identical growth factors and cytokines which have been proven effective in hair follicle science. Our serum which we make from PRF has a higher amount of growth factors than normal PRP.

What it is

The growth factors and cytokines in the serum are from specially conditioned stem cell media focused on hair growth with proven efficacy in hair follicle stimulation. These factors have been shown to trigger the growth and reproduction of cells in an area of the body that was formerly too old or damaged to do so on its own. By employing the microneedles and injections to deliver the PRF serum, we can apply these factors into the scalp at the optimal level to influence hair growth.

How it Works

First, your scalp will be numbed with topical anesthetic. After cleansing the scalp, the PRF derived serum will be applied. We will then use our professional grade microneedling device to create microchannels for the growth factors to enter.

  • Men or women with thinning hair, including androgenic alopecia and male and female pattern baldness, who want to try PRF derived serums alone or as an adjunct to other traditional treatments such as finasteride and minoxidil.

  • Studies have shown an approximately 25-30% increase in hair thickness when PRF-derived media is applied via microneedling, but it may not work for some types of hair loss. We will discuss this with you at the consultation. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more about the science.

  • We will apply topical numbing gel to the scalp prior to the microneedling to increase patient comfort. It may be mildly uncomfortable but not painful.

  • A series of 3-6 treatments, depending on the patient’s condition, are recommended.

  • In one month, hair thickness should increase but results are optimal after 3-6 months.

  • This treatment is permanent, but will not stop the balding process, so touch up treatments may be needed every 3-6 months after the initial treatments.

  • There are minimal side effects. Discomfort from the microneedling is the most common complaint.

  • No special preparation is needed, but you won’t be able to wash your hair for 24-48 hours after treatment, so you may want to shampoo and condition before you arrive.

  • Patients should not wash their hair for 24-48 hours after treatments.
